Job Summary
We are seeking a certified and experienced Coding Manager to lead our Inpatient Medical Coding team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inpatient coding, proven leadership capabilities, and a commitment to compliance and quality. This role offers flexibility to work remotely or onsite, based on organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of inpatient medical coders, ensuring accurate and timely coding of medical records.
- Monitor coding quality and productivity, implementing corrective actions and training as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable coding guidelines, regulations, and standards (e.g., CMS, ICD-10-CM, PCS).
- Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) teams to optimize coding accuracy and reimbursement.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain high standards of coding integrity.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for coding staff.
- Stay current with industry changes, regulatory updates, and best practices in inpatient coding.
- Support operational goals and contribute to strategic initiatives within the medical coding department.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Inpatient Medical Coding, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Certification Required: CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG assignment, and inpatient reimbursement methodologies.
- Experience in a hospital setup is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage remote teams and adapt to hybrid work environments.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Epic, 3M, or similar coding platforms.
- Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools.
- Background in healthcare compliance and audit processes.
